Danilo was a traditional Slovenian restaurant, inducted in the Michelin Guide in 2020.
This project was a result of a work group: Ana Berwenger, Nik Hrovat, Nik Valenta, Neja Skornšek & Žan Kreft.
About the brand
Danilo restaurant, located near Škofja Loka, Slovenia, was established in 1961 and ran for three generations with exceptional traditional cuisine and a vast wine selection. Chef Nina Čarman wanted to create a line of products, called Danilo doma (Danilo at home), that her guests could purchase and enjoy the taste of Danilo at home.
Packaging design
My colleagues and I created packaging for various products, including cottage cheese dumplings, ginger juice, apricot jam, pralines, and so on. The design was based on rustic drawings of the products' ingredients, a neutral color palette, and simple, handwritten typography, added to the original logo. For the glass jars and bottles, we added diagonal spacing on the labels, so the products' texture could become a part of the design.
