The City Dialogue Project is a multidisciplinary poster project that explores human behaviour in the public space. It’s based on a three-sided poster panel, with participatory posters. The design concept introduces a timeline of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, in the past, present, and future.

Participatory poster

A poster is usually a medium for one-sided communication. I wanted to challenge that fact and create posters that would engage the viewer in a physical interaction.

With the help of TAM-TAM (a poster company) and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary History of Slovenia, I created a 3-sided poster panel with three different kinds of physical interactions.

Ljubljana yesterday

The first poster was designed with photos donated by the Museum of Modern and Contemporary History of Slovenia. It was equipped with postcards, showcasing Ljubljana through the 20th century and its development, which passers-by can remove, keep, or send as a memory from the past.

Ljubljana today

The second poster was a coloring sheet, which encouraged the viewer to color it with provided crayons. Since Ljubljana is a diverse, welcoming city that everyone experiences differently, every individual can color a part of it, their own way.

Ljubljana tomorrow

The third poster was filled with blank pages, awaiting recommendations, wishes, visions, and love notes from the people to the city.

Results

The activation was posted and recorded for a week in April 2026, on Šubičeva street in Ljubljana. People’s feedback was above all expectations, with many contributions, completely covering the surface of all three posters. The project was successfully finished and all the participating organizations were content with results.
